The Crabtree Volunteer Fire Department is a progressive, 100% volunteer organization that was chartered in 1938 in order to protect the lives and property of the Crabtree and surrounding community.  The town of Crabtree is located in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and is made up of 3 townships: Unity, Salem and Hempfield.  The fire station is located in the Unity Township section of town along the Latrobe-Crabtree Road, just off of U.S. Route 119.

     Our department provides Fire and Rescue services utilizing a fully equipped Engine and a fully equipped Heavy Rescue Squad.  Our services include fire suppression, Haz-Mat mitigation, vehicle rescue, rope rescue, trench rescue, water rescue, farm rescue and EMS first responder.  We are the home company for the Westmoreland County Trench Rescue and Structural Collapse Team.  Our 1st due response area includes portions of Unity Township, Salem Township Hempfield Township and New Alex Boro with a population of approximately 5,000 residents.  We provide mutual aid response to New Alexandria Borough, City of Latrobe, Derry Township, Loyalhanna Township and the Westmoreland County Airport.  Our yearly response totals average 250-300 runs.

     We have 3 memberships categories: Regular Firefighter (Age 18 +), Junior Firefighter (Ages 13-17) and Associate (Administrative, fundraising, etc without answering fire calls).  Our members are highly trained and certified throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and are committed to continuous fire, rescue and EMS training to further enhance our service to our residents and visitors.

     Along with answering fire and rescue calls, members of the Crabtree Volunteer Fire Department participate in annual training, public service and community functions, fire prevention programs, apparatus and equipment maintenance programs and occasional fund raising.  We provide all of our members with the top-of-the-line training and protective gear that is needed to provide these services to the community.
